The Department of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Houston invites applications from outstanding scholars and teachers with an active agenda of research and publication in anthropology or any area of cultural studies related to anthropology. We will be hiring faculty for an appointment at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Anthropology.
Thematic and geographical areas of research focus are open, but there is some preference for scholars working on one or more of the following topics, to complement existing research strengths: race & racism, migration & citizenship, gender & sexuality, food, agriculture, religion, medical anthropology, digital humanities, media anthropology, environmental anthropology, labor, or global political economy.
The Department of Comparative Cultural Studies (CCS) at the University of Houston is an interdisciplinary department that is home to curricular programs in Anthropology, Liberal Studies, and Religious Studies. We seek new colleagues whose academic work would enhance and amplify the intellectual synergies that already exist across the department and in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS). New faculty will serve anthropology undergraduates and graduate students in CCS’s MA degree program in anthropology, as well as other students in our College. Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in anthropology or affiliated discipline or interdisciplinary field, or must provide evidence of anticipated completion of the Ph.D. and confirmation that it will have been awarded by June 2022.
