Post-Doctoral Research Associate and Fellow in Medical Anthropology
The University of Virginia Department of Anthropology invites applications for a one-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Medical Anthropology, with a possibility for a one-year renewal. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of anthropology and an ongoing program of research and publication in medical anthropology that integrates intensive ethnographic study with the advancement of anthropological theory.
The fellow will be responsible for conducting their own research and for teaching one course on Intro to Medical Anthropology in the fall 2017 semester, and two courses broadly related to medical anthropology in the Spring 2018 semester. The fellow will also have an opportunity to interact with an active interdisciplinary community of researchers in medical anthropology, disease history, mental health, bioethics, and global health. Region of specialization is open.
Applicants must be on track to receive a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field by May 2017 and must hold a PhD by June 15, 2017.
The anticipated start date for the Fellowship period is July 25, 2017 and will end May 24, 2018. There is a possibility of renewing the fellowship for a second year. Pay is competitive, and benefits are included.
